Akilah Collins-Anderson
Akilah Collins-Anderson, Ph.D., M.P.H., is a pathway to faculty fellow in the Department of Public Health at Wayne State University. Her scholarship integrates theories, concepts and perspectives from various disciplines, with substantive interests in health equity, aging and interventions. A core aspect of Dr. Collins-Anderson’s work involves building strong community partnerships and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. Her past work has employed mixed methods to improve health behaviors and explore psychosocial mechanisms influencing health, particularly among those underserved by health resources.
Dr. Collins-Anderson’s primary research broadly focuses on the mental health and well-being of Black populations across the life course and within various social contexts. She received her Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis and held a National Institute on Mental Health predoctoral fellowship.
