Sean Novak

Sean is a native of northwest Detroit. He left home for many years and came back to Detroit as an adult, currently residing in Grandmont and serving on the Grandmont Community Association Board of Directors. He has been working in higher education for nearly 15 years serving at Central Michigan University, Duke University, University of Detroit Mercy and now joining us at Wayne State University. He has years of experience in different capacities of student affairs and support services, having worked in multicultural affairs for a good portion of that time. He is a staunch advocate for the city of Detroit and has been actively involved in a variety of community organizing efforts related to racial equity over the years. He is proud to finally join the Wayne State community to work alongside his colleagues to empower students to achieve their goals. Outside of work he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and daughter and supporting Detroit City FC, Detroit's professional soccer club.
