Lisa Podnar
Lisa Podnar is alumni of Wayne State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dance Education. Throughout her experience at Wayne State, Lisa has done performances under Adesola Akinleye and Marc Arthur. Along with her degree, Lisa has also received certifications with organizations such as the Cecchetti Council of America, iTap Online, Progressing Ballet Technique, and Acrobatic Arts to aid her students she has taught in the studio setting for about 10 years. She is also a part of two dance companies Detroit Tap Repertory and Diversiform Dance Project and was a former member of Dance Uprising! She hopes to continue her education outside of her college experiences and develop as both an artist and instructor.
Lisa is passionate about injury prevention techniques and building fitness programs to ensure her dancer’s longevity if they choose an athletic lifestyle. Over the course of her time spent at Wayne State University, she has contacted Dr. Alexis Sams PT, a dance medicine specialist, on suggestions and training techniques to work with dancers. She has also taken the certifications required to pass all levels of injury prevention and conditioning. Along with learning a physical therapist’s techniques, Lisa has received her Stott Pilates Mat Certification and working towards reformer!
Along with her teaching passion, Lisa is invested in her hobbies! During her downtime, she is a Wish Granter and volunteer for the children in Make A Wish Foundation to discover what her child wants and give them monthly gifts leading up to their Wish Day! She also is a runner and has participated recently in the Women Run the D Half Marathon! Aside from running, you will often see her kayaking or participating in athletic events! She loves the ability to help others and challenge herself in new ways! She looks forward to working in the Physics Department and being able to help her colleagues to the fullest extent!
