Whitney is a PhD candidate in the department of sociology at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Research interests broadly focus on social inequality with a specialization in racial/ethnic studies, and an emphasis on identity, socialization, media representations and the sociology of science and tech. Through a mixed method research agenda, her dissertation research is currently exploring potential implications of genetic testing for ancestry and health.
