Meresa is the Practicum and Community Engagement Coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in Public Health Program. In this role, she manages student placement and registration for the experiential learning practicum course. She also supports department community engagement efforts by serving as a liaison to the metro-Detroit community.
Meresa is a native Detroiter, with a love for contributing to the growth and development of Detroit communities. She currently serves on the executive board for a local non-profit, Minds Matter Detroit. She mentors high school students to prepare them to pursue and succeed in higher education. Her passion for service emerged when she worked in the Office of Service-Learning at her alma mater, Bowling Green State University. She gained skills on how to build and sustain partnerships with community agencies and educated students on the importance of serving the community. Before joining Wayne State University, Meresa worked as a School Registrar at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
