Dalal Khatib

Dalal Khatib is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at Wayne State University (WSU). Her research centers on Arab American immigrant and refugee groups' integration in the Metro Detroit Area, with a particular focus on medical sociology and mental health. Her research explores strategies for resilience and coping in contexts of stress and trauma exposure to marginalized populations. She is the recipient of the Mary Cay Sengstock Diversity Scholarship.
 
In addition to her scholarship, Dalal is a full-time Research Associate at WSU, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, and has supported the research of over twenty Principal Investigators across campus in the past seventeen years. She is a highly trained trilingual researcher with fluent verbal and written Arabic, English, and French skills. She is experienced in dealing with different cultures and nationalities to overcome cultural and language barriers to consent, collect data, and the research process.
