Lisa Montes

 I am currently teaching Spanish 1020 and have previously taught SPA1010 as well..In addition to instructing at the university level, I have been teaching grade school for 19 years. This is my fifth year teaching Spanish and English Language Arts at Anderson Middle School in Berkley. Prior to joining the staff at AMS, I taught for 14 years in Southwest Detroit, primarily in Bilingual Education. In 1998, I earned a BA in Elementary Education and a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan. In 2005 I graduated from Wayne State with my MA in Spanish and finished my PhD at Wayne State in Modern Languages in Literary Criticism in 2015. When I am not teaching I enjoy practicing and teaching yoga, traveling and am the co-director of a dance company which performs the classical, regional and flamenco dances and music of Spain.
