Aaron Hardy-Smith, M.A., CCC-SLP, Ed.S.

Aaron Hardy-Smith, M.A., CCC-SLP, Ed.S. joined the faculty in 2010 as a Lecturer and clinical educator providing expertise in preschool and school age children with speech and language impairments.  Mrs. Hardy-Smith also has special interests in working with children with autism.  She teaches undergraduate coursework in child Language and Phonological Disorders and Clinical Practicum in Speech Language Pathology.  She supervises graduate students in the Head Start and Preschool Language Acquisition Years (P.L.A.Y.) practicum as well as the Outpatient Clinic where she also serves as team leader.  As chair of the CSD Assessment Committee, Mrs. Hardy-Smith has presented to WSU colleagues in peer to peer forums sharing good assessment practices. Prior to working at Wayne, she worked as a school based speech language pathologist (K-12) for Calhoun ISD, Allen Park Public Schools, as well as in several charter schools in Detroit.  She was appointed to the Michigan Speech Hearing Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2014 supporting the development of students and young professionals in the CSD fields.  Mrs. Hardy-Smith was awarded “Supervisor of the Year” in 2014 and again in 2016 by the graduating class of M.A. students in the department. In 2015, she was honored by the President and Provost of the University for contributing to undergraduate student success.  She hopes to encourage each student that she teaches and supervises to serve their clients with integrity and compassion and to maintain their zeal for learning as professionals in their future careers.
